Rationalizing Away

I've already mentioned how some philosophers are trying to offer pseudo-arguments to the affect that the APA anti-discrimination policy does not apply to hiring practices of religious institutions that de facto discriminate against homosexuals.

David Hoekema (Calvin College) is another one of these — he has written yet another letter to the APA in defense of said religious institutions (including his own).

In response, Leiter Reports has a link to a nice parody of Hoekema's letter, replacing Hoekema's discrimination based on sexual orientation with discrimination based on being a theist.

Incidentally, the APA board of officers is now supposed to make a decision on this matter.  Hopefully they'll do the right thing and enforce their own anti-discrimination policy.  It would be a shame if the APA sided with the bigots.
